If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade

Guilty!! This is the right word to explain my feeling about my absence. I am not gonna give excuses! No!! It’s like when you promise that you will start going to the gym and you’re so excited about it, so happy about the results, about your discipline that you decide to give yourself a …rest…a long rest!!!

In the beginning it’s always exciting, but then it gets harder, you have to reevaluate why you’re doing it. That’s what happens with acting…it’s so cool, such an exciting career in the beginning and in the end... but only if you survive to tell the story, because the middle it’s hard, really hard!!

My objective for the summer was to build my show reel, update my pictures and my applications in many websites to start auditioning in the beginning of September and October! Things are not so fast as I expected, but I am learning to be more and more patient and to keep myself alive in the middle of this waiting process! I have many ways to do it, one is reading, another is to go to the cinema or theatre and another is to write…yes!! I've been writing a lot, not here in this blog, but I am in the first 30 pages of my first screenplay. I never thought I could enjoy so much this writing experience, especially because I have to do lots of research, read other screenplays, look at scenes and movies and have a clinical eye on them, to understand what I like or not, to find my own creative path, not only as a writer, but also as an actress.

So far I’ve been emerging myself in Woody Allen’s work, Bergman, Charlie Kaufman  Dorothy Parker, the new generation of actress – writer – director women like Greta Gerwin and her lovely movie "Francis Ha" or Brit Marling in “Another Earth”. Well, I would love to be lucky to be discovered on the street or rich enough to do amazing acting courses in London, New York, L.A, different techniques, different countries, different people… have an agent… amazing auditions… but I cannot moan about it…at the end, if life gives you lemons, make your lemonade!

Lots of Love, Lilly
