It's a Wonderful Life

"Each man's life touches so many other lives, and when he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?". I left the movie thinking of this line. In fact our life is one of the rarest things on earth considering that a healthy adult male can release between 40 million and 1.2 billion sperm cells in a single ejaculation and just one, the one that carries the genetic information,  50% of what we are, only that one fertilizes the egg, containing the other 50% of us. These may sound like ridiculous numbers but we are so lucky to be alive, another sperm would create a completely different person: different hands, voice, face personality predisposition, different dreams, a different life. Everyday my rare and lucky life has an impact in other's peoples lives for good and for bad, and the only way to imagine the dimension of this impact is to look back and think of those who have crossed paths with our life and changed it somehow, influenced our way of thinking and feeling, our directions and decisions, our perspectives and what we are today. In the middle of our to-do-lists and ambitions we don't think of any of this and many times we bury ourselves with unhappiness. I found the main character George Bailey interpreted so well by our ingenius James Stewart, the perfect metaphor of my one of my favourite quotes: "Life is what happens while you're making other plans". It's good to have plans and dreams like George had but only if we don't forget to enjoy the journey without wasting to much time, energy and thoughts on our enemies and villains in our life. Maybe they won't be punished, ever, and life may seem easier for them than it is for us but at the end the best thing to do is to let it go, to forgive and wish them a Merry Christmas like George did to Mr. Potter.
