I love surprises but it's really hard to surprise me because I am a control freak and I'm always very aware of what's going on around me. Once, my boyfriend wanted to make me a surprise birthday party and I felt he was hiding something. My intuitons were confirmed when the door rang and a friend of mine was at the door holding a bottle of wine and saying:
"oh... I was passing by and I thought of you, today is your birthday, isn't it?"
First, I thought it was strange until the bell rang again and another friend was at the door...
My boyfriend prepared the surprise and he invited everyone but he forgot something slightly important: having the house ready to receive guests. The house wasn't a mess but it wasn't ready for a party.
When I finally understood what was going on I panicked. I was really happy about the surprise but I do like to receive guests and to have the house ready for that. When I saw four friends parking their car at the front of the house then... I looked at my boyfriend and he confessed "I invited a couple of friends for your birthday".
I was so happy to see them. Really happy until I asked him:
"What are they suppose to eat and to drink? Are we eating out?"
My boyfriend said: "Don't worry, we'll prepare something".
That's how relax he was about 14 people coming over for dinner. Believe me, my fridge wasn't ready to feed 14 people but my relaxing and incomplicating boyfriend was.
"I'll cook a carbonara for them!"
Back then, carbonara was the only meal he could cook and he could solve all the problems in the kitchen with pasta, bacon and single cream.
We have great memories from that day. We laugh a lot when we think about our kitchen adventure. Suddenly all the guests were helping at the kitchen making a carbonara, grabbing plates and preparing the dinner table, bringing wine... We all improvised something and at the end we were all sharing memories and stories, laughing, drinking wine and eating carbonara.
Well "carbonara and birthday parties" have nothing to do with this picture but I thought it was important to share this story because my boyfriend surprised me again with this lovely bracelet some time ago. Two months ago. It's a very simple piece that I absolutely adore it from a spanish brand 20 years old brand called Uno de 50. I am sharing pictures of other pieces I love from this brand.
